On April 22nd at 4:15 pm I gave birth to my daughter Ellie Virginia Blair-Heim. She was 6 pounds 5 Ounces, and 20 inches long. When I did the last push they put her on my chest and I could not believe that I had done this. I had made this baby inside me and then I had given birth to her.
I have truly never been more happy in my whole life. I was in that delivery room just looking at her as they cleaned her up and got her ready for the world. Rob stayed by my side as they got me taken care of and then he went over to look at his daughter and touch her for the first time. He looked so happy, when he reached out his finger and put it in her little hand and she held it I could see tears in his eyes.
You surprised us some much Ellie, first you turned out to be a girl and we where both so scared, because all we could think of was how hard girls can be. But now you have us both so completely wrapped around your little finger. Next your due date was supposed to be May 17th but because of some possible medical issues the doctor told me that she wanted to admit me into the hospital to observe me. After some testing she decided it would be best to induce me, this was at 9 pm April 21st. So induce me they did at 10 pm with some cervidil to soften my cervix. At 9 am they checked me and I was 2 centimeters and I was starting to have light contractions they started a pitocin drip. Your dad came to the hospital from home having slept there for the night and he helped me stay calm and breath through the contractions, your grandma was also there to help as well. At around 2 they checked me again and I was 7 centimeters, they broke my water and the contractions really started to get bad. I tried to get a epidural but it did not work and only one side of me got numb. Within half an hour of getting the epidural they checked me again and I was 9 centimeters and completely effaced. They called the doctor and around 4 I started pushing, the doctor showed up a few minutes later and everyone started rushing around because they could already see your head. With only a few pushes you where out and looking beautiful.
I am so proud of what I did and how well you worked with me to come out. When I have another baby I don't think I will bother with the epidural, it did not really work for me and really only caused me trouble.
You are now a little over 2 weeks old and you are sleeping next to me in your little baby bed. I am so nervous and happy, but I can not wait to watch you grow and change. Right now you have brown hair and baby blue eyes. I know the eyes will change and everyone says most likely the hair will change color as well so I can't wait to see what your final coloration will be.
I love you baby girl never doubt that, so does your father with all of his heart we will always be here for you.
